Weird Slide Icecapades
These screenshots were taken from the video above. Slip Slide Icecapades has a completely different layout, in every aspect of it.
- There are Locked Crates in the first screenshot. The HUD was still plain text.
- Cortex has some weird animations going on, with cartoony stars and limbs coming out of him.
- There are lots of rocket penguins in this early version, which don't just go forward. They also launch sideways. Notice also the support arm from the Iceberg Lab.
- Surprisingly, Crash and Cortex can hit Nitro Crates without getting harmed.

Gone a Bit Coco
If you're an avid Crash fan, you've probably heard of the removed level Gone A Bit Coco, in which Cortex would battle through Coco's mind, a place full of cuddly enemies and nonsensical cuteness. Here are two screenshots that show just how wacky that level would have been.
These screenshots were taken from the same build that contained the early Slip Slide Icecapades layout (see previous screenshots).

Crash, Cortex and Pile of Junk 1

The players never get to control Crash and Cortex in this part of Cavern Catastrophe, because the duo automatically rolls inside the crater in the middle. This is right at the beginning of the level, after the Mecha Bandicoot battle. Cortex is in weird poses, almost as if he's chasing Crash. Perhaps he'd chase Crash around for a bit before fighting him, instead of the automatic scene shown in the final version.

Cut Amok
This Doc Amok scene doesn't appear in the final version, but it probably evolved into Totem Hokum. There is a lot more land, and no water. Cortex is much higher than he usually is, making up for a different camera angle. Notice also how he's doing a different animation (the same as the picture in the manual). The mantrap up above suggests that the level could had occurred against the screen at times, as seen in a concept picture.

Low Farm
Farmer Ernest's farm changed its location during development. It used to be low, near the beach and close to Cavern Catastrophe's exit. Other differences in these pictures include:
- Crash grabbing Cortex by his hand.
- Cortex holding the Power Crystal, even when separated from Crash.
- Open barn, with hay inside.

Missing Tikimon Animations
- Tikimon used to do some odd animations, like spinning his head around. He also seems to suck air into his mouth at one point. Since Crash threw Cortex at his mouth in this instant, maybe this was how you defeated him at first, without the little tiki men of rock.
- Cortex slides around without animating.
- The dirt around Tikimon isn't implemented here.

Before The Icons
- Some early pictures have the word "WUMPA" instead of the Wumpa icon on the HUD.
- Weird camera angle.
