Crash Bash - Spyro Year of the Dragon Demo
There is a hidden demo of Crash Bash in this game. If you have it, all you have to do is wait for the main menu to appear (after the egg breaks the sign). When it does, hold down L1 + R1 + Square at the same time and you'll be taken to the Crash Bash demo, where you can use the cheat menu. The menu in this demo does not let you play any level from the 5th Warp Room, but the majority of the game is still there. The levels from that Warp Room are still in the disc, but you can only access them with a GameShark.
Different Prize Order
(contributed by Tanner)The final version goes trophy, gem, crystal.
Cortex Billboard
(contributed by Tanner)Space Bash used to have the Cortex billboard from the motorcycle levels of Crash 3.
Egypt Bash
(contributed by Tanner, ConceptWindow and Crashfan25)This is the crystal challenge from Space Bash. The main difference is the background, which is very different despite being set in the same kind of scenery. The idol is on the right and you can see a single shiny star up in the sky. Some theorize that the star would have been interpreted as a religious reference and was thus taken out, but this remains speculation. Most of the background was re-used for an early version of Pogo Painter. There are also purple "?" Crates lying around.
Drain Bash
(contributed by Tanner)- The background from Drain Bash is a bit different.
- There used to be a wobbling lamp hanging from the ceiling. The lightbulb kept flashing all the time and it was kind of distracting (and potentially dangerous for players suffering from epilepsy). This version of the arena can also be found in the OPM 37 Trailer.
Big Bad Homer
(contributed by Hacc and LXShadow)- D'oh! Why are Homer and Bart Simpson in Crash Bash? Funnily enough, it looks like they were placeholder icons for the Komodo Brothers. Worth noting is that everyone else in the demo has their own character icons. Not only that, but Komodo Brothers' icons have a different style from everyone else in the final version, so these were probably made much later on.
- The Komodo Brothers' mech goes down on its own after they fire the first shots.
- The pick-ups are all in crate form. The brown "?" crate never actually appears in the final version in any mini-game. It acts like any other pick-up and even has the "schlurp" sound effect from the Wumpa fruits.
Oxide Ride
(contributed by Hacc)- The event order in Oxide Ride is switched, with th Ballistix arena happening before the space chase.
- The background is just a big, dull desert of darkness. The final version has you chasing Oxide through space and landing in a carnival-like tech planet.
- Bouncing toxic waste barrels come at you sometimes during the chase. They're reminiscent of the barrels from Crash 1's Toxic Waste level.
