Anecdotes

A mutant by the name of Platform Ape was planned to be in Crash of the Titans (Nintendo DS). It looked identical to the Porcurilla besides the fact that it had a platform on its head instead of spikes (along with some other, minor details), so it was likely scrapped in favor of the Porcurilla.
