Dr. Neo Cortex's lair is a large castle built on the tallest mountain of his self-claimed Cortex Island. This is where the doctor used to conduct experiments with the local wildlife. The castle is filled with machinery and treacherous passageways, as well as several portraits of its megalomaniac owner and a laboratory, originally used by Cortex's old partner, Nitrus Brio.
