Dr. Nitrus Brio is a scientist best known for his achievements in mutagenetic science, as well as Dr. Neo Cortex's former partner. Brio is more competent than Cortex, but he lacks the ambition to try anything grand. Because of this, Cortex often stole the credit for his inventions (most notably the Evolvo-Ray), and the relationship between them grew sourer, until Brio eventually turned against him.
Besides the aforementioned Evolvo-Ray (a machine capable of evolving any creature), Brio came up with a mutagen formula that can temporarily transform its drinker into a huge monster. He uses this to his advantage when confronting foes like Crash Bandicoot, so he always keeps a beaker of the stuff handy. The doctor has no particular allies or foes, as he usually teams up with whoever can help him achieve his goal at that moment. As such, he has teamed up with and fought both Crash and Cortex.
Brio is a heavy stutterer, and one of his hobbies involves bartending.
In Mind Over Mutant, Brio is obsessed with being credited for his inventions (including some that he actually didn't invent, though at this point it's difficult to say whether he's doing it on purpose or just acting out of his own personal trauma). He also no longer stutters when he speaks.
Brio's appearance is derived from an unused design for Neo Cortex.
The original design.
Brio's skin is much darker and his face is noticeably more wrinkled, with pitch-black bags under his eyes. His head is considerably less long. He wears a uniform identical to Cortex's in this game, and like every other character, he is depicted with five fingers on each hand instead of four.
Thanks to Crasharki for the picture.
Crash: Mind Over Mutant
Brio's skin color is closer to the original design, but the bags under his eyes are reddish and his eyebrows are lighter. His head is a bit longer (though still not as long as in the original design). He's wearing a new outfit based on the original one and once again has four fingers on each hand.
