Twinsanity Remaster - An Open Letter by Keith Webb

This post is dedicated to all the Crash Twinsanity fans out there! Keith Webb (who you probably know as SpaceCat if you're familiar with all the unused Twinsanity concepts) has written an open letter to Vicarious Visions to congratulate them on the N. Sane Trilogy's success and propose a little something:

And, of course, here's the artwork mentioned in the letter (click for a bigger version):

So what do you think? Would you like to see a Twinsanity remake? Write a comment or tweet @VvisionsStudio to let Vicarious Visions know if you're up for it!

Now to see what happens, next...

Personally I'm not sure. Though Twinsanity shares my "favourite game of all time" spot with Crash 2, I kinda think it's a perfect piece of Crash history the way it is. The N Sane trilogy was made to introduce newer fans to the franchise by modernising the dated graphics, but if you look at Twinsanity as it is today, the graphics still hold up pretty well. Remaking it would simply feel like a "remake for the sake of a remake" - it probably wouldn't be different enough, unless they added loads of new stuff. Even 10 years later, it's hard to imagine the FMV cutscenes looking any better than they do already (unless they changed the character designs, which I think would be a mistake, as the Twinsanity designs are definitely some of the most beloved and iconic in the series).
So my answer is no, probably not. An HD re-release on current-gen consoles would be welcome, but I simply don't believe it needs to be remade. A sequel, however, I'd love to see! If they could make a brand new Crash title in the Twinsanity style, then I'd welcome it with open arms.
I'm not saying I don't want a Twinsanity remake, just that we're probably not going to get it, which IMO is probably for the best. Plus it would seem the vast majority of fans are screaming at VV for a CTR remake anyway.

As great as Twinsanity was, I would much rather have a Crash Team Racing remaster with added racers (Tawna, Brio, Kong, Moe) and online play.
I would prefer a new Crash game to a Twinsanity remake, especially since I want the characters to keep their original designs.

I believe that a Twinsanity remaster is definitely required. It is one of.my favourite games of all time bit due to the nature of its development a lot of planned content to was cut and the game is riddled with many many glitches which a remaster would fix. Not to mention the updated graphics would really bring the different areas to life like what we've seen in the N.Sane trilogy. However I do feel that CTR is a natural follow up as it's the last Naughty Dog title (and who can't stop thinking about the proposition of online multiplayer?). Either way, I'm happy that Crash is back and I'll back whatever VV have planned within the future months and years.

man that would be AMAZING!!

Geez, no thank you. I mean, I appreciate the dedication some fans and members of the Twinsanity dev team have for the game but I don't think it would do anything more than re-kill the franchise. I'll say this much: I've never liked Twinsanity - I didn't like the concept of the game, the way it came together, the gameplay, or the graphics. Crash looked like a mindless zombie and Cortex changed from a sinister failure with a bruised ego to a silly shadow of his former self. The plot was a little too wacky and out of this world for a Crash game and, for me, the levels weren't fun - particularly from The Academy of Evil onwards. No doubt a lot of Crash fans have fond memories of the game but I don't. It's so glitchy, short and often frustrating. I hope they make a brand new Crash game rather than do another remake. I am a fan of the idea of taking what was Crash Landed plus Crash Team Racing 2010 and bringing those games to the here and now, re-creating the franchise from scratch. That probably won't happen though and I'm curious to see whether they'll start again from Warped or whether they'll continue off from where Skylanders Imaginators left off (I.e. 20 years of Crash). I guess we'll have to wait and see what's next for our beloved bandicoot.

Agghh, i do not know what to think.

I really just want a brand new Crash game, a Crash Bandicoot 8 set after the event of Mind Over Mutant.

Fuuma | August 5, 2017 - 12:50 PM
It would be very easy to just release Twinsanity as a PS2 Classic on PS4. Those games run in 1080p resolution and tend to have faster loading times than their original counterparts on PS2. So that'd already be some sort of upgrade, though I can see the appeal in restoring some of the cut/unused content for the game. We'll see what will happen.

Crash Kandicoot | August 5, 2017 - 06:18 PM
Crash Twinsanity is a fantastic game and if it was remade with the removed content but with the same style, it would make for a completely new experience. Personally I'm rooting for this to happen, I know some people aren't that fond of this game and I'm not sure how it'd fit if VV is going to change the story after Crash 3, but I really want this to happen. Anyway, it's really cool that some ex-devs still care about this game, and that artwork is amazing. If this happens this will be one of the best Crash games to me.

E_B_R | August 5, 2017 - 06:42 PM
Would be great!
We've never got to see its full potential....It's sad that the game was rushed...
The ideas for that were so good.
The devs were so creative, they created a lot of good and amazing characters like the evil twins and the new islands like the ice berg lab island, and it also the fist game to play as CORTEX! Do you even know how it feels like when we heard about that when the game was announced?! ;)
I will support for this idea and I really want to see a remake!
Crash twinsanity was the best non-naughty dog game!
HYPE!!!!!!!!! XD

I totally agree about doing a remake of twinsanity, because the game is not too long, the story is incomplete and it has a lot of missing content. So,please Vicarious Visions say "yes" to Keith Webb

cheesedimple | August 11, 2017 - 09:30 PM
I would adore it if they brought it to its full potential

ALURE | August 12, 2017 - 04:28 AM
Let the madness begin! Crash Twinsanity was great apart from all the glitches and missing stuff due to it being rushed, A redo is what every Twinsanity fan and crash fan in general has wanted for a long time but everyone has been so sure it'll never happen, this will literally be a dream come true... if it happens of course

SimonArty | September 14, 2017 - 07:36 AM
YESSSSSS PLS!!!! Twinsanity deserves a remake because of all the cut content limiting it's original potential. I would love to see all the scrapped content implemented! However, I must say that the original developers and artists who worked on Twinsanity need to come aboard, or it would't have the magic it gave me back then. I can't imagine a remake without Sprialmouth's music either, but they've broken up and unless if there's some way for their talents to be lent again, I rather not. Twinsanity should be remade with the original scope it was supposed to, and I'm going to do whatever I can to let Vicarious Visions know that.

andrehansen | September 15, 2017 - 08:58 PM
I am VERY EXCITED about this!!! I really would love either a remake, remaster or reimagining of this game. It is simply my favorite childhood game! (this article inspired me so much that I recreated a track from the original soundtrack to a tropical house version which you can find here: https://soundcloud.com/yahveh/crash-twinsanity-tropical ) OMG, I SO WANT TWINSANITY ON MY PS4!!!! :)

Varrok | January 5, 2018 - 05:26 PM
Oh yes, I'd *LOVE* to see Twinsanity remastered!

SonicClub | January 27, 2018 - 12:34 AM
Looks cool!

Gaz Jones | March 24, 2018 - 09:33 PM
Twinsanity remake? No thanks. Crash Twinsanity 2? Yes please! The sequel didn't deserve to be shelved. Same designs with updated graphics and planned story/gameplay concept would please Twinanity fans and newcomers. Make it happen!

Mystickey | July 10, 2018 - 10:08 AM
Sorry Everyone but this game deserves a remake

xronis97 | August 9, 2018 - 10:03 AM
the crash twinsanity remaster it would be
a stunning one crash remaster It would be nice to be put the cut contects cut levels like gone bit coco lava caves and more updade graphics and to play as coco & fix glitches crash twinsanity is my fevorite crash game :);)

NTrophy | July 7, 2020 - 07:46 AM
I think that they should. There is a new Crash game coming out in October. After that there should be a new racing game in 2022. In 2024 another new Crash game. And in 2026 a remake of Crash Twinsanity. Just to be clear I want a remake and not a reboot. A reboot is when you recreate previously made content. A remake is when you recreate the general outline but it is an entirely new game. There is a lot of cut content from the original Crash Twinsanity. Even Dr. Cortex says "It should have been 2 new dimensions but we ran out of time." *** they should have 3 dimensions (Other than the 4th dimension.)

prolio12 | January 20, 2021 - 02:07 AM
even maybe not all but some devs want to help to the remake, they were the ones to give the original twinsanity that formula and humor and as such this gives a golden chance but for not a great but also enhanced remake
