Crash Bandicoot: The Huge Adventure - Unused Content

Cortex Display

Cortex Display

This is supposedly an early version of the Cortex display that appears in the intro. The final is much greener and has Cortex's body visible. This picture is shown in the intro, but as part of the scenery and not as the whole screen.

2 Yetis

2 Yetis

(contributed by R. Gin)

This might be a glitch, but you can clearly see a second, smaller yeti in front of Crash.

Mock-Up 1

Mock-Up 1

(contributed by R. Gin and Ntropydude)

There are several things that point this official screenshot to be a mock-up. Those are:

  • A different life crate icon.
  • The Wumpa fruit under the life crate is placed oddly, in front of the ground.
  • Crash's is spinning the crate without breaking it.
  • Crash can stand up in a narrow space.
  • The Wumpa counter displays "02". It should display "2" instead.

Mock-Up 2

Mock-Up 2

(contributed by R. Gin)

Another mock-up:

  • The crates here are all different, but what really stands out is that they're the exact same ones used in the Naughty Dog games.
  • Crash himself looks straight out of the Naughty Dog games, as if they cut and pasted him there (different pose and advanced shading).

Mock-Up 3

Mock-Up 3

(contributed by R. Gin)
  • The waterfalls here are much thinner and tiled, instead of extending to the bottom of the screen.
  • The crate looks like those from the Naughty Dog games, which, coupled with its odd position, indicates that this is a mock-up.

Jet-Sub

Jet-Sub

(contributed by R. Gin)

This is the Jet-Sub you get in WARPED, except it doesn't appear in this game at all at all. It also appears to have some sort of drill attached to it.

Temple Background

Temple Background

(contributed by Dingodile555)A different background was used for this temple early on.

Underwater Rock Formation

Underwater Rock Formation

(contributed by Dingodile555)

The rocky wall on the right looks different in the final version.

Warp Room

Warp Room

(contributed by Oya200 and Ntropydude)
  • A screenshot of how the Warp Room used to be. Funnily, it's as if the final Warp Room is composed of the remaining ruins from this one, due to its appearance.
  • Again, Crash looks like he was cut and pasted straight out of the Naughty Dog games.
  • The sapphire time should be 1:31:70 instead of 1:40:00, as shown in the screenshot.

End Level Platform

(contributed by Oya200 and Ntropydude)

This platform used to be gray and simpler-looking.

Too Many Jellyfish

Too Many Jellyfish

(contributed by Baalorso)

This area doesn't have this many jellyfish in the final version.

Different Crate Totals

(contributed by Ntropydude)

These screenshots come from a pre-release trailer. In a few levels, the crate totals differ from the final version:

  • Snow Job: 95 instead of 96.
  • Ace of Space: 218 instead of 194.
  • No-Fly Zone: 48 instead of 56.
  • Just Hangin': 181 instead of 154.

Unseen Locations

(contributed by Crashb648)

These all show unseen locations, including a tall slope that doesn't appear in the final version. Additionally, the crates look different.

Water Surface

(contributed by Samno1.CBFan)

An underwater level showing the water surface at the top, ala WARPED.
