The Viscount is one of the richest people in the world. His ambitions are just as big as his fortune, and he was willing to spend it all to have his greatest wish come true. He spent most of his life searching for what his grandfather could never find - the Super Big Power Crystal, a gem of surprising beauty and even greater power, granting whoever first touches it his or her greatest wish.
In a stroke of genius (and despair), the Viscount organized a World Cannonball Race, willing to pay $100 000 000 to the lucky winner of the contest. The plan behind that contest was to have the finest treasure hunters unsuspectingly finding the Super Big Power Crystal for him.
When Crash Bandicoot turned out to be the lucky guy to find this elusive jewel, he also touched it before the Viscount could, making his wish of a grand shower of Wumpa fruits come to reality, and also crushing the Viscount's life-long dream in the process.

Since he is a Tasmanian Devil, the Viscount was originally named Viscount Devil, even in promotional material for Crash: Boom, Bang! outside Japan. His surname was omitted when localizing the game, likely to avoid any unintentional religious associations.
