Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back - Features Trailer
There was a pre-release trailer featuring an unusually loud, obnoxious, unfunny, and badly rendered version of Crash Bandicoot talking about the game and making terrible jokes. Fortunately, it also features some interesting elements not seen in the final version.
Warp Room
(contributed by Crashpro)- The first screenshot shows the player controlling Crash while a hologram is being projected (you can't move Crash during these occasions in the final version). Cortex's animation was probably not ready at the moment, because all it shows is his head, frozen like it shows in the screenshot.
- The second screenshot shows different fonts and icons for the level entrances. It's also hard to tell, but the lift is missing.
Removed Jetpack Enemy
(contributed by Ikwaylx)This device would home in on Crash.
Turtle Woods
(contributed by Crashpro)- The pink ostriches didn't originally squat, as shown in the first two screenshots.
- The second screenshot shows an armored armadillo near the emu, which isn't there in the final version.
- The third screenshot shows a mushroom appearing in the middle of a pit instead of next to the wall. This was presumably changed because it made getting out of the pit a bit difficult.
Sewer Earliness
(contributed by Ikwalyx, Keiji Dragon, Crashpro, and Guy)These screenshots come from both this trailer and the one from the OPM demo disc. They show several removed or changed bits from the game's sewer levels. You may also notice the obnoxious Crash render mentioned earlier. Try to ignore him and maybe he'll go away.
- There don't appear to be any eels.
- The first screenshot appears to show an incomplete part of the Hangin' Out, which was removed entirely from the game. There doesn't seem to be anything ahead of Crash, which explain the grayness. It also shows an upward mesh. There aren't any in of these in the final version, where they're all parallel to the ground.
- The second screenshot is again from Hangin' Out, featuring a different end to the mesh segment.
- The third screenshot, from Sewer or Later, shows a Lab Assistant moving and flaming upwards for some reason.
- The fourth and fifth screenshots are from the gem path, but you would simply fall in instead of taking the lift.
